You Can Now Order Takeout from These Michelin-Starred Restaurants Across the U.S.
Your favorite restaurants need your support more than ever.
The restaurant industry is nothing if not innovative and resilient. And that has never been more apparent than in the last few weeks, as restaurants across the country have been forced to pivot their business models or close temporarily because of the stay-at-home orders currently in place. For those restaurants that do remain open, they've shifted their focus to pick-up and take-out orders, ensuring a job for their staff members and delicious meals for their customers—and that includes some of the world's most celebrated establishments.
From Cote in New York City to Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurants in Maui and Los Angeles, these Michelin-starred spots are still serving up impeccably crafted dishes for people to enjoy at home. By ordering, it's a simple way to continue supporting those in the hospitality industry during such a difficult time. You can also donate to any number of organizations that are helping out those in the industry, including the James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund, United States Bartenders’ Guild Relief fund, or the Children of Restaurant Employees fund.
Below, a list of Michelin-starred restaurants offering pick-up and take-out dishes across the county.
o.d.o, New York City
For the first time, chef Hiroki Odo is offering a casual and affordable delivery option from his Michelin-starred, speakeasy kaiseki restaurant, o.d.o by ODO. Their six-piece nigiri with sushi roll set, priced at $18, is available through Grubhub. Each day, Odo will also have limited Japanese-inspired home-style dishes (like white asparagus salad, or duck breast and bamboo shoot pasta). Check their Instagram, @hall.nyc, regularly to see what the specials are.
Caviar Russe, Miami, NYC, and shipping domestically
Caviar Russe, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Miami and NYC, is still operating its high-end local delivery service. They'll ship fine caviar, smoked salmon, and foie gras, not just to their Miami and New York City fans but anywhere in the U.S. You can visit their website for more details or call 212-980-5959.
Vespertine, Los Angeles
With two Michelin stars and all of LA vying for a reservation, Vespertine is one of the most sought-after LA foodie meccas. Typically a dine-in experience fusing high-end art, architecture, and ingredients, Vespertine is now offering family-style meals for take-out or delivery. You can order through Tock nightly—order early, they tend to sell out.
Masseria a Casa, Washington, D.C.
Michelin-starred chef Nicholas Stefanelli has launched a new delivery program at his fine dining restaurant, Masseria a Casa, in response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The internally-run delivery operation serves guests with Michelin-starred meals from the restaurant to their front door, seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stefanelli and his team are creating a new menu each week with a different featured dish for two every night. Since the restaurant isn't partnering with a third party delivery service, the entire staff will be hand delivering the meals themselves.
L'Atelier De Joël Robuchon, NYC
L'Atelier De Joël Robuchon, which was awarded two stars in the 2020 Michelin Guide, is offering pick-up and delivery from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. from their Meatpacking District restaurant. You can order via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), by phone (212-488-8885), through Doordash, or via Caviar. Their take-out menu currently features caviar (in one or nine-ounce portions), lobster penne pasta, and a duo of duck leg and breast.
COTE, New York City
Simon Kim's COTE Korean steakhouse is accepting email orders (Prime@Cotenyc.com) for steak care packages available for pick up at the restaurant. Each $180 kit includes four one-pound steaks, a custom salt blend, ssamjang, and four pints of assorted banchan to recreate the COTE experience at home. To pair with your steaks, Beverage Director Victoria James is hand selecting Magnum wine bottles that guests can order. COTE will also be launching on Caviar later this week and are taking 20% off the retail menu while increasing the beef portions by 20%.
Helmed by chef Iliana Regan, the Michelin-starred restaurant Elizabeth is also serving family-style meals that can be ordered through Tock. At this time, the restaurant itself is not profiting from these sales at all—the money is going directly back to the restaurant's workers to cover the cost of ingredients and get their staff paid in any way possible. They're releasing their family-style menus daily on Instagram and via their email newsletter; one example is braised lamb stew served with slices of sourdough bread and dark chocolate sea salt cookie dough (so you can bake six cookies at home).
Spago, Los Angeles, Maui
Spago, the fine dining institution by Wolfgang Puck, is doing contactless take-out and delivery from Monday to Saturday at their Beverly Hills location between 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. For Spago Beverly Hills, they're posting a daily rotating menu on Tock; you get a choice of appetizer (think: braised short rib ravioli) and entree (like their 38-day aged prime New York steak) for $59 per person. They're also doing take-out at Spago Maui, featuring an impressive menu (as posted on Instagram) that includes grilled lamb chops and seared rare ahi tuna.
Ju-Ni, San Francisco
The sushi bar with one Michelin star typically serves $170 omakase meals, but has now pivoted to $35 chirashi bowls with fish and rice. If you visit Ju-Ni's website, you'll be redirected to order their bowls through Caviar. The bowls feature fresh fish and seafood—including scallop and crab from Hokkaido. You can even add Hokkaido uni to the bowls.
Kajitsu, New York City
The intimate dine-in space serving vegetarian Shojin cuisine is now serving to-go bento boxes together with their non-vegetarian sister restaurant, Kokage. The restaurants are offering a saba sushi bento for those seeking high-end fresh fish or a vegan shojin bento box, among others. They're not working through a third party and are taking orders via email@example.com with more information on their Instagram.
