Luna Is the Most Popular Female Cat Name for the Second Year in a Row
Plus, check out the other top options that owners are calling their pandemic pets.
This past year was major for pet owners. Pet adoptions surged in 2020 because many people have been working from home and have more time to care for a new furry friend. With all these new pandemic puppies and kittens joining families, owners need to give their latest addition a name. If you're one of the many people needing to figure out what to call your cat, Rover is here to help you out. The online pet care services site just released the most popular names in the country from 2020, and we're featuring the 50 most sought-after options below.
To come up with the list, Rover analyzes its database of all the monikers people selected for their felines in the past 12 months. The site explains that the majority of the most popular names are short (one or two syllables) and are inspired by pop culture. For example, Bella, No. 2, hails from the Twilight series, and Nala, No. 6, comes from the movie The Lion King. There are also options that come from flowers (like Daisy) and ones that are food names (Pumpkin and Ginger.) There are plenty of other cute names for you to check out, too.
