Cotton tote, 'Cultural Contrast' (Guatemala)

This Guatemalan tote features a handwoven design on the foot pedal loom. The Aj Quen association presents the tote, helping local artisans learn artisanal skills. With a striped pattern in black and linen, the tote's exterior is completed with black faux leather accents and straps. Its main zipper opens to a cotton lining with two open pockets for storing small items. The Aj Quen Association is one of the oldest weaving associations in Guatemala. It was founded as a non-profit development entity in 1989 through the efforts of six different artisan groups from various regions of the country. These groups came together to help preserve their cultural identity and to better market their art.
