Wendy A. Gardner
Wendy Ann Gardner loves dogs, cats, chickens, and pets of all kind. One day she met a French Bulldog, which inspired her to create the Vicious French Bulldog plush toy, and the Naughty Naughty Pets were born. She formed her company, Scary Stories Inc., and began selling Dig Ivan Dig, Heedley Pecked Me in the Eye, and all the other mischievous characters in her line of unique plush toys. The toys have been sold in boutiques, design stores, gifts shops, and museum shops throughout the world. Wendy Ann Gardner’s illustrations of the Naughty Naughty Pets characters have been licensed worldwide to create various products including children’s clothing, watches, stationery, lollipops, stickers, wallets, handbags, t-shirts, and pajamas.
Hyperion Books for Children published her series of children’s books based on the characters. The Naughty Naughty Pets animated TV series, which debuted on Cartoon Network and CBC Canada in 2006, has been broadcast worldwide and translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Japanese. Wendy has taught arts and crafts in schools all over New York City. She has been a visiting artist, leading workshops on making plush toys and character design at Etsy, Parsons School of Design, School of Visual Arts, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, and the ICON Conference.
