Gabrielle Ruffino knew she was destined for a career in fashion early on. As a child, Gabrielle spent hours upon hours learning the skills of the trade from her grandmother, a self-taught seamstress with her own tailor shop. At the age of 10, a trip to Italy exposed Gabrielle to the more glamorous side of the clothing business, and she immediately decided then that she would become a fashion designer. When she returned home she began taking every opportunity she had to create, turning scraps of fabric she found at her grandmother’s shop into accessories. When it came time to choose a college, her passion for design easily led her to apply and, eventually, enroll at the Fashion Institute of Technology. At FIT, she refined her point of view on design through her coursework and prestigious internships at Joanna Mastroianni and Oscar de la Renta. Now, at age 24, Gabrielle describes her style as timeless and sophisticated. She enjoys fashion trends, but believes that classic pieces are the ones she will wear forever. Gabrielle may be the Shriek or Chic: Martha's Haute Halloween Challenge contestant who loves Halloween the most. She has designed her own costumes previously, and says that she would create an entire Halloween collection if she could!
