Shell House

Make a miniature seaside bungalow by crafting a cardboard "house" covered in shells from the shore.

Source: Martha Stewart

  • Sturdy cardboard

  • Scissors

  • Shells of varying sizes

  1. Collect shells of many colors and sizes at the seashore and from gift shops. You can also buy shells online at

  2. Print the house and roof templates and photocopy at 250 percent; trace onto sturdy cardboard. Cut out along solid lines; crease and fold along dotted ones.

  3. With a tacky, quick-drying craft glue, glue house closed, using shaded tab from the template. Glue small shells to house; glue shells (such as coquinas) to roof in overlapping shingles. Then glue roof to house, using shaded tabs.

  4. When you're done, create a few inhabitants for your beach bungalow, like these adorable shell koalas.
