While the summer is usually dedicated to traveling to your favorite destinations, autumn poses another perfect time to pack up and take off to see a new locale as the temperatures start to cool off and foliage covers landscapes. According to a new study by Tripadvisor, Americans are opting for travel within the United States this fall: 81 percent are planning to stay stateside. As for how people are traveling during the season? Many are taking the long route: Over 40 percent of American travelers are planning to take nearly seven hours to get to their destination. Plus, 49 percent are catching flights to get there. After arriving at the location, 56 percent of over 2,700 Americans surveyed said that they plan to stay for at least four nights, and 33 percent plan to stay for five or more nights.
