Princess Eugenie Just Marked Her Son's First Birthday with the Sweetest Post—and Revealed His Nickname

August Philip Hawke Brooksbank—Augie for short—was born on February 9, 2021.

It's hard to believe, but Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's son, August, is officially one! The little boy celebrated his first birthday yesterday, February 9. To honor the happy occasion, the royal mom took to Instagram, where she shared a heartfelt note to her son—and revealed his nickname in the process.

"Happy 1st Birthday to our little hero Augie," Princess Eugenie wrote, adding the sweet moniker she calls her one-year-old child. "You are such a special soul that brightens every room with your smile and wave. You have made us so very proud. We love you!"

The message was accompanied by two shots of the little one. In the first, Augie, dressed warmly in a snow suit and cap, is in Princess Eugenie's arms while getting a hug from his father. The second—which shows the little one at a group music class—reveals his long, dark head of hair (it's just like his mom's!).

While this isn't the first time Princess Eugenie has expressed her love for her son on Instagram, we don't regularly see new snapshots of the growing toddler—which makes this post particularly special. We last saw the tot in June 2021 (when he was just four months old!), when Princess Eugenie took him to a local art exhibit which featured over 100 wooden elephants. "Within The Tea Timers herd is a wonderful baby elephant called Assam August," Eugenie captioned an image of the pair, "and it was such a pleasure to take my August to meet him."
