"I remember randomly seeing Patrick on social media and always thought he was cute, but never expected to ever cross paths with him again," says Megan. Fate, however, wasn't done with the pair. "In 2016, we ran into each other at another bar in Dallas and Patrick asked me on a date—the rest is history!" The one thing they knew they wanted after they got engaged was to get married in the mountains. "We are from Texas, but live in Denver now, so we wanted to show our family and friends Colorado's beauty and cool summer weather," Megan explains. Not really knowing where to start with the planning process, they began touring venues they found online; the team at one of the first spots recommended Karli Spangler of Ivory & Vine Event Co. "The venue could not say enough nice things about her, and it was a plus that she was a TCU grad like me!" Shortly after connecting with Karli, the pair booked Vail's Donovan Pavilion as their event location. "The Donovan allowed us to bring in all our own vendors and have the freedom to do what wanted with the space," Megan explains. "I had always dreamt of an outdoor wedding, and they had an area that backs up to Gore Creek and the Aspen trees." The venue also had an impressive indoor space for a reception with stunning with panoramic views via floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased the property's natural beauty. "Our thought was that we wouldn't have to do much to make it stand out," Megan says. A clean, neutral color palette with minimal touches of French blue, taupe, and blush proved to be the perfect enhancement, and décor was focused on creating a romantic atmosphere through Colorado wildflowers, soft textures, and candlelight. "Patrick and I are easy going, and I felt like the whole event illustrated that so well," Megan emphasizes. "We kept it light and airy, elegant but not stuffy." The couple achieved their goal of showcasing the beauty of Colorado to the ones they love, creating a memorable celebration against a truly stunning backdrop. 01 of 26 Paper Trail Alp & Isle The pair went with a simple invitation design by Scribbles & Swirls that was printed on white paper with a letterpress font, a mountain graphic, and a monogram.
