Why Blake Shelton Wants Gwen Stefani to Take the Lead on Wedding Planning

"She's always so mindful," the country singer shared.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met when they were fellow coaches and pals on The Voice in 2014, and now seven years later, they have developed their lifelong romance off set. Thanks to that initial friendship, Gwen and Blake understand each other like no one else—especially when it comes to planning their upcoming wedding. "I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it's going to be great," the country singer said, E! News reports. "She's in the middle of planning the thing, and she's always so mindful of me. She's like, 'Hey, I don't want to just take this thing over.'" He continued, "I think she's having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she's having a blast doing it."

The country singer joked that some of his ideas for their nuptials wouldn't necessarily lead to the desired result if he took the reins. "If I was picking our meal, it would just literally be everything fried," he said. "French fries, chicken tenders—you know, all of that stuff. I think she knows that it would be a pretty classless wedding if I was in control."

According to Blake, Gwen also takes the lead on another key aspect of his life—his wardrobe. "I never pick my own clothes unless I'm doing one of these FaceTime calls with you, and I put on a cap and shirt," Blake said. "But she picks my clothes for things like something formal with the family. I never even pick my clothes for The Voice," he says. "So, nobody lets me pick clothes. That's not a Gwen wedding thing. That's just in general."

As for the couple's guest list for their big day? The singers are having a family-centric affair. "I think that the guest list will not have a lot of musicians," Gwen previously told SethMeyers. "It's gonna be, like, my mom and my dad and just literally going to be just family, and we are looking forward to that."
