Blake Shelton Took a Very Traditional Approach to Proposing to Gwen Stefani
The country singer apparently asked her father for permission before he popped the question.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are still on cloud nine after getting engaged, but according to Us Weekly, Blake has been planning for this moment long before he got down one knee. According to the outlet, Blake spoke with his bride-to-be's father to ask for her hand in marriage. "Blake had the ring custom-designed, and asked permission from her dad before asking Gwen," an insider revealed. "It meant so much to Gwen that Blake was so traditional about it."
The pair officially got engaged on October 17, in Oklahoma, People previously reported; this is also where the couple has been quarantining with Gwen's three sons. "They are very happy to be settled at last in their family home," a source told Us Weekly in September. "Gwen wanted to be moved in for the start of the school year, even though the kids are doing school at home because of COVID-19. They are truly happy as a family and it's the new beginning Gwen needed."
Gwen and Blake have expressed their excitement and appreciation for all of the support they have received since announcing their engagement on Instagram. Most recently, a close friend—Pastor Rick Warren—tweeted: "Congratulations @gwenstefani and @blakeshelton. I'm happy for you both!" The groom-to-be replied, "Thank you sir. We are extremely excited!"
While the details are still coming in about the engagement ring itself, Olivia Landau, the CEO and founder of The Clear Cut, thinks it "looks like a HUGE round brilliant," she told E! News: "The diamond takes up her entire finger, so I am guessing anywhere from five to seven carats. Well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars." Shannon Delany-Ron, the director of communications at JamesAllen.com, added that this appears to be a white gold or platinum ring with a six- to eight-carat center stone.
