Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman's sweet surprise engagement was one for the books—but their journey to the aisle has been unexpected in an entirely different way. The Today Show host recently told Entertainment Tonight that the novel coronavirus pandemic is inevitably stalling their plans to tie the knot: "We did have to officially postpone it, which was a super bummer, because it was going to involve people getting on planes," she told the outlet. "We haven't picked our new date. We're just waiting to see what is what with everything."

The journalist did note, however, that while their original wedding plans are likely out the window, she is just still profoundly excited to wed her fiancé—no matter the location. "And, look, it's just like the show. I don't care where we do it, as long as we do it," Kotb said. "I want our friends and family to be there, obviously, but the location is kinda secondary."

Even though she and her husband-to-be are excited to start their married life, Kotb is taking things one day at a time. The host mentioned that she is "slowing down" the wedding-planning process: COVID-19 has made organizing the details difficult, especially since health and safety guidelines are ever-changing. But she did share that the day will still happen: "I think we'll probably go a little later than we anticipated, as opposed to going earlier."

In Kotb's eyes, there is no particular rush—especially because she "already feel[s] married" to Schiffman, she previously told People. "I'm so happy to say 'I do' and I'm also happy to do it whenever we need to, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a formality now," she said.
