Celebrity Engagements That Happened Faster Than You Can Say "I Do"
These are the ultimate Hollywood whirlwind romances.
The average length of engagements in the US is a year to a year and a half—but we all know celebs never do anything the "average" way. These couples were clearly determined to tie the knot ASAP, proving there's no stopping a couple in true love. (Hiddleswift we're looking at you and those seriously convincing engagement rumors—meeting the parents! Meeting the Squad! It's all moving so fast!) But if we're being totally honest, we've had longer relationships with our Chapstick tubes than these couples' engagement periods. See who made the cut for the shortest engagements in recent Hollywood history.
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston
Could the most discussed celebrity relationship of the year, which can only be described as an epic whirlwind romance, see an engagement soon? Us Weekly
reports that, "Tom is planning to propose very soon," and according to an insider tip, "[Taylor] would definitely say yes." Despite being photographed together around the world, and meeting each other's parents, neither Tom nor Taylor have officially commented on their ongoing relationship. Only time will tell!
Khloé Kardashian & Lamar Odom
Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom met at Brody Jenner's birthday party on September 2nd, and tied the knot less than a month later on September 30, 2009. The relationship was heavily documented on Keeping Up with the Kardashians—the entire world watched their courtship, engagement, and fairytale wedding. Even though the couple has now split, Khloé has supported Lamar through his trials and tribulations.
Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon
Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah twice: once with a 17-carat diamond ring hidden inside a ringpop, and the second time in a romantic helicopter ride. After just six weeks of dating, the duo tied the knot on a private island in the Bahamas. But, after two children and six years of marriage, the couple called it quits, announcing their divorce in August of 2014. Carey is now set to marry billionaire James Packer.
Kaley Cuoco & Ryan Sweeting
The Big Bang Theory star met her now ex-husband in August of 2013. Just three months later, the duo announced their engagement, officially tying the knot on New Year's Eve 2013. The couple quietly divorced two years later citing "irreconcilable differences."
Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee
This infamous couple dated for only a couple of days before getting engaged, when Tommy Lee followed Pamela to a photo shoot in Mexico and proposed on the spot with a pinky ring. A day later, on February 19th, 1995, the duo married. But the excitement eventually wore off. After two children, and two rocky years together, they divorced in February of 1997.
Katy Perry & Russell Brand
The pop-star and British rocker met first met in 2008, when Perry was dating Travie McCoy, but a year later, Katy was single again and started dating Russell in September. During a vacation in India in December of the same year, Russell popped the question, and the couple officially tied the knot on October 23rd, 2010. The couple looked happy and in love for a while, but battled break-up rumors for months before Brand officially filed for divorce in October of 2011.
