Why You Need to Make Time for Your Girlfriends After the Wedding Is Over
Don't leave your 'maids in the dust.
You already know this, but it deserves to be said again: A lot will change as you go from a single woman to a married one. Although being married and living life with your best friend by your side is truly one of the greatest joys, your new status change doesn't mean your friendships should come to an end. Here are a few thoughts on why it's healthy to maintain relationships with your girlfriends after the wedding is over.
Your spouse is going to drive you crazy sometimes.
Especially during your first year of marriage, when you're trying to figure out what life looks like as a married couple, you'll find that there are times where your beloved is driving you up a wall. It's not realistic to think that you're going to spend every waking moment together. Now that you're married, you may find that you have more time to cultivate friendships, too.
You'll need girl time.
Getting married doesn't mean you can't still don't enjoy all those girl nights you use to have with your best friends. Girls' nights are a great way to keep up-to-date with your friendships and make you still feel connected, so it's important to try to keep a night open for your girls. And, to be honest, your spouse is going to need a night out with his or her friends as well!
You still need those relationships.
Your marriage is not going to be perfect all the time. If you alienate yourself after the wedding from your friends, you may find yourself in a situation where you feel like you have no one to talk to. Being able to talk with your girlfriends about deep and emotional things you're feeling during your first year of marriage will help strengthen your friendship. You need your girls in your life. It's hard to do this alone!
