Channing Tatum's Proposal Story Is Actually Kind of Hilarious
If you expected Channing Tatum's proposal story to be as charming as the actor himself, you may be surprised by this funny revelation. Apparently, how he popped the question was actually sort of a disaster! The star dished on his engagement to Jenna Dewan Tatum in an interview on BBC Radio One's "Breakfast Show."
"When I proposed to my wife I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me," Channing revealed. "I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off." Of course, that did more than stop suspicions-it totally devastated Jenna! "She basically broke down crying," the star explained. "I thought, 'This is not going well at all,' so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later." While Jenna eventually forgave her now-husband, it didn't happen until after he gave her the ring, he said.
The couple got engaged in 2008 when Channing flew Jenna to Maui for the proposal. There, he asked her to marry him as close friends looked on. The couple married in 2009 and now have one daughter, Everly.
The radio show had an engagement theme, and the actor was able to help a fan propose. But, just like Channing's own proposal, this one didn't go quite as planned-the woman involved made a hilarious statement. "Channing, it's a shame I'm not marrying you!" she declared, though she did later reassure her new fiancé, confirming she was "joking."
