"Modern Family" Star Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams Are Engaged
The couple announced the happy news—and debuted the actress' engagement ring—on Instagram.
After nearly two years of dating, Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are officially engaged. Adams, a Bachelorette alum and podcast host, proposed to the actress on a tropical beach, presenting her with what appears to be an oval-shaped diamond. Naturally, the Modern Family star was thrilled to say yes. "That can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff," she wrote on Instagram, alongside photos that captured the moment.
While the first image in Hyland's photo series showcases the proposal in real time (she was sipping a glass of rosé when her future husband got down on one knee!), the rest show the blissful aftermath. In the second, Adams holds Hyland's left arm up, showing off her sparkler to the camera. The remaining images show the duo happily in love, posing around their island locale and holding each other close.
Adams took to his own Instagram account to share the news with his followers. His post, however, included live footage of the proposal. If the video is any indication, Hyland definitely didn't see the moment coming. The future groom captioned his post with Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors lyrics: "I'll be Johnny, you be June. But forever."
The actress and former reality TV star first connected on Twitter in 2016-but didn't become an official couple until the fall of 2017, reports People. They made their relationship debut on Halloween, dressing up in coinciding Stranger Things costumes, much to the surprise of their fans. The couple went the distance for about a year-Adams was based in Nashville, while Hyland called Los Angeles home-until Adams made the move to California in 2018.
