They ended up at the same college (she for medicine and he for law) and it was there, in the school's library, that Jeff asked her out. Three years later, the Chicago-based pair (she's now an emergency-medicine resident; he's a lawyer) invited 200 friends and family to their September 4, 2011, nuptials in California's wine country. 01 of 27 The Invitation Sasha Gulish The couple saw a hand-stitched save-the-date on a blog and used it as inspiration for their invitations and day-of stationery. 02 of 27 The Location Sasha Gulish "When my mom and I visited Durham Ranch she said, 'I think we just found the place you're going to get married,'" Joey recalls. It was the perfect setting for their late-summer big day. 03 of 27 The Bouquets Sasha Gulish The bridesmaids carried bouquets of garden roses, dusty miller, hydrangeas, and gardenias. "They had so much fun doing it, and have created a small business called The Detailed Event," says the bride. The crafty duo also worked magic on the ring pillow, menu cards, and favor bags. 08 of 27 The Ring Pillow Sasha Gulish Marla and Helen constructed this rustic tuft out of burlap and stitched it up with contrasting thread. 09 of 27 A Walk to Remember Sasha Gulish Old milk bottles filled with flowers were placed along the aisle. 10 of 27 The Ceremony Sasha Gulish The bride and groom exchanged vows under a huppah of birch branches and passionflower vines.
