Sophia Webster Reveals Everything You Need to Know About Accessorizing Your Bridal Look
When it comes to planning your dream wedding day look, there's a lot to consider. Not only are you picking the dress, you're also planning the hair, makeup, and accessories to go along with it. But one thing you should never forget to include in your bridal style selections? The perfect pair of wedding shoes. Not only can these particular accessories help you make a subtle fashion statement, they'll also carry you (literally) through an entire day's worth of vows, photos, and all the wedding merriment to follow. Needless to say, this is one bridal detail that deserves your complete attention.
Searching for a little assistance for that wedding-ready style? Look no further. British shoe and accessory designer Sophia Webster is lending a helping hand, and she has some essential advice for a head-to-toe look you'll love forever.
Stay true to your bridal vision.
One piece of fashion advice Webster thinks you should definitely take on your wedding day? Keep things personal. "Stay true to your vision of what you want to look like, and don't be steered in other directions," the designer says. "It's your day. It's important to be comfortable and confident and be you." That means using your accessories to express your personality, too. For example, Webster chose baby pink shoes and vibrant floral hair accessories (check out wedding photo above!) to add a befitting pop of color to her bridal style.
Remember to feel like yourself.
"Don't do anything too drastic or unfamiliar with your hair and makeup," Webster cautions, adding that the pictures you take on your wedding day will last a lifetime. That doesn't mean you have to forgo glamour altogether-just consider choosing a look that feels like an elevated spin on your everyday look. "Classic is best," she adds. "I had my hair braided on my wedding day, but I always braid my hair so it felt authentic."
Don't be afraid to make a statement.
Still, feeling like yourself doesn't mean you can't take things up a notch and make a wedding day statement. One idea? Look to your feet. "I'm loving statement bridal shoes! Embellished crystal heels and embroidery fabrics are a trend that I tapped into this season," Webster says. "I love intricate details on unexpected places of a shoe that really catch the camera flash to take strong, impactful images."
Think about future wearability.
Investing in accessories can feel like a lot on top of all the other wedding details you're budgeting for, so consider purchasing items you can wear long after the wedding. "I would suggest metallic shoes rather than traditional ivory satin," Webster says for brides seeking a longer-term investment. "By wearing a pop of color in your shoes or bag, you can style that accessory in different ways after the big day."
Every type of shoe can work on your wedding day.
The age-old bridal accessory dilemma: comfortable wedding shoes, or killer heels? "It depends on the style of wedding," says Webster. "Although I think no matter how comfortable your heels are, always have a backup pair of flats! There is no right shoe to wear on your wedding day, just the right shoe for you." And for brides who do want to rock that extra height? "Wear a heel that holds your foot in," the designer suggests, adding, "The support across the instep gives more comfort."
