Sam Smith Just Surprised Two Brides with a Wedding Performance
The singer made their special day even sweeter.
Sam Smith recently appeared in a BBC television special, and the footage included an incredible moment. The singer made a surprise appearance at the wedding of two brides, Bec Baran and Lisa Best. Luckily, the entire thing was captured on camera.
Unbeknownst to the couple, Best's niece and best woman, Katie, had made some special arrangements for their reception. She'd been in contact with Smith, and the two had devised a plan for a secret performance at the celebration. On the big day, the star hid outside of the ceremony and watched the proceedings from the window. Then, once the couple was inside the reception, Smith made his move.
Right before he walked through the doors, the event's DJ made an announcement. "So, Lisa and Bec, it is time for the surprise of your married lives. With a little bit of help from Lisa's best woman, we have been keeping a big secret from you," he announced. "Please welcome Sam Smith!" Right on cue, the artist appeared, and greeted the brides with a hug. Then, he sang his song "Latch."
"When he walked through the door, I just thought, 'Wow, that is actually Sam Smith. This does not happen to us,'" Best shared in the footage. "All of my friends and Bec's friends and family were really shocked," she added. "It was just another level." The surprise wasn't just meaningful for the couple, however. Smith-who was emotional throughout the occasion-was grateful to participate in their love story. "Just being a part of someone's day like that means the world to me. They're so in love. It's just incredible. They're so in love and it's so beautiful."
