How Brides Can Use Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) to Their Advantage
Black Friday is a great time to buy all of those Christmas gifts, but the sale day can also double as your bridal-shopping secret weapon. While we're not suggesting you head to the bridal salon to try on wedding dresses after your huge Thanksgiving feast, we do recommend shopping for small big-day buys. Here, our tips to using Black Friday to your advantage.
1. Think About You.
What is still missing from your wedding look? Are you almost ready for your first fitting and in-need of wedding shoes? Were you considering a bridal clutch? This is the time to head to your mall's luxury department store, be it Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, or all of the above, to tackle their shoe department and their minaudière selection. A top designer whose pumps you've been coveting will probably be on sale.
2. Buy in Bulk.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the perfect chances to snag the gifts you know will quickly add-up without a sale price-be it bridesmaids' gifts, like delicate drop earrings you hope your friends will wear down the aisle, or something special for your future in-laws.
3. Check on Your Registry.
Your guests and loved ones will no doubt be heading to your online registry sites to hopefully snag your wishlist items for half the price, and you should, too. Odds are, a key piece for your future home will be marked down to such a low price you will have no issue buying it for yourself! Kitchen appliances, electronics, and home furnishings receive bigger markdowns around the holidays than fashion and accessories, so the best ways to save are by heading to places like Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Amazon.com, or Macy's. (Many of these stores and sites are offering their Black Friday deals early. For example, head to macys.com/blackfriday to get first dibs on the department store's markdowns.)
4. Spend Time in the Beauty Department
Beauty products receive major markdowns on Black Friday and Cyber Monday-and this is your chance to test out the eye shadows, lip colors, cheek tints, and pre-wedding prep products that would otherwise cost you a lot more. Whether you're stockpiling for your upcoming showers or picking up products to pass along to your makeup artist for the day-of, some sites (check Urban Decay and Sephora) will have killer deals-even site-wide sales that are sure to help balance out your beauty budget.
5. Stock Up for Pre-Wedding Parties
Whether you need white shirts for your fiancé or little white dresses for your honeymoon, engagement party, or bridal showers, these shopping days are ideal for purchasing pre-wedding party attire. Not engaged just yet, but have a feeling you'll get a ring this holiday season? Use Cyber Monday to hit up Net-a-Porter or Shopbop for a LWD-white dresses will be that much harder to track down come Christmas!
