Elton John Just Cleared His Schedule for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding
The singer canceled his Las Vegas shows coinciding with the couple's wedding weekend. Does this mean he has another gig lined up?
Sir Elton John is planning to be available for one very important weekend in May. The singer just cleared his concert schedule so that he's able to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials-he canceled two Las Vegas shows that interfere with the May 19 wedding date, reported Fox. We're just speculating here, but the musician, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1998, is clearly close to the Crown. He'll (likely) be attendance on the big day. But will he also perform?
John all but confirmed that he's been invited to the wedding, but hasn't given any details about a performance. "I don't know, no one's been asked," he told The Sun last month. "I'm playing in Vegas, so I don't know what's going to happen." John also added that he was hopeful that he'd be able to work out his schedule so that he could witness the prince exchange vows with this bride (the "Piano Man" singer was very close to Princess Diana). "It will be nice because I love him very dearly," he said of attending.
Based on John's recent comments about the couple, it sounds like he'd happily share his talents on the big day. "I spent some time with [Prince Harry] at Google camp in Sicily last summer and I could tell that he was totally in love," he said on ITV's Lorraine. "And I thought, 'Good for you.'" He also said that Harry's "heart's in the right place" and that he wished him all the happiness in the world.
He went on to praise Harry, stating that he is much like his mother. "He's a good boy," he continued. "[Diana] was just loved by people because she had that great ability, which her son has inherited. She could walk into a room of people and make them feel at ease as if she'd known them all her life or all their life."
