Mariah Carey Dishes on Her Upcoming Wedding to James Packer
There's one thing she says she won't do … and it might surprise you!
Mariah Carey has finally given us some great inside details on her upcoming wedding to fiancé James Packer, and we are seriously so excited.
At the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Carey said the big day had been pushed back because of her tour, but that hasn't stopped the singer from making a few important planning decisions.
Never one to shy away from the spotlight, it might surprise some that Carey made it clear she would not be performing at her wedding. "Why would you sing at your own wedding?" she said. "It's obnoxious!"
She's also revealed that she picked out her wedding gown and has had a fitting. But if you're expecting a big white ball gown, you might be disappointed. "This is number three, you know darling," she joked to E!'s Jason Kennedy on the NBCUniversal Upfront blue carpet. She's already worn the classic white dress, she reminded Kennedy (for reference, see her "We Belong Together" music video, she said), which makes us wonder if Mimi might go a little alternative for these nuptials. Perhaps we'll see a splash of color or maybe even a unique silhouette.
Traditional or not, one thing is for sure: That dress is going to be a showstopper! Just look at Carey's engagement ring: A colossal 35 carats (that's bigger than Beyoncé's and Kim Kardashian's diamonds-combined!), jewelry designer and Carey's longtime friend Wilfredo Rosado called it "the most challenging piece of jewelry I've ever designed."
But when you're a five-time Grammy winner-and you're marrying an Australian billionaire-an extravagant engagement ring and an incredible wedding can pretty much be expected. We can't wait to see the rest of the details!
