EXCLUSIVE: Lauren Santo Domingo Takes Us Inside Moda Operandi's New Bridal Trunk Show
Moda Operandi, the go-to e-commerce site for shopping the latest fashion, accessories, and jewelry straight from the runways, is revisiting bridal for a month-long trunk show launching November 16th.
This past May, M'O, the brainchild of style icon and down-to-Earth It-girl Lauren Santo Domingo, introduced their bridal assortment to rave reviews, giving stylish brides a taste of lines they hadn't heard of (like one of our favorites from Greece, Christos Costarellos, pictured below) to bridal-style staples like J. Mendel.
If you saw something you loved on the Fall 2016 bridal runways, you can head to M'O and place your order as soon as tomorrow, rather than waiting for your nearest local trunk show or six months for your favorite bridal atelier to get the gown in-store for try-ons.
In addition to designs from key bridal talents like Oscar de la Renta, Monique Lhuillier, Temperley (pictured below) and Zuhair Murad, all of whom are new to the M'O bridal assortment this season, the site will also be featuring the Trousseau collection. From accessories, to lingerie to special-little-somethings, M'O took inspiration from a traditional bridal trousseau, which is the collection of clothing, accessories, linens, and accouterments that would hopefully guide and initiate a young woman into married life, to stock the modern yet sentimental selection.
To celebrate the launch of Moda's second bridal trunk show, we turned to #LSD herself for the inspiration, scoop, and her favorite things about Moda Operandi Bridal.
THE MODA OPERANDI BRIDE IS STYLISH, BUT ALSO SPONTANEOUS.
"She is fun and on the lookout for something special, both for herself as well as for her guests," Lauren Santo Domingo exclusively tells us. "Her wedding might be covered by a magazine, or she could just as soon elope, and send a note out of the blue, casually mentioning her recent nuptials."
A BRIDAL LAUNCH WAS A NATURAL NEXT STEP FOR M'O.
"Even after getting married, one never stops dreaming of weddings-I blame Pinterest!" she explains. "Our customers already know they can find the best and most unique pieces on M'O, and bridal should be no exception. We've curated a selection of the best dresses that may not be accessible to every bride. It's our goal to offer the bride everything she may need … well, except the groom!"
LSD'S NUMBER ONE PIECE OF WEDDING-DRESS SHOPPING ADVICE: THINK ABOUT YOUR VENUE!
"I was once told that the wedding gown should complement the size of the room; a cathedral or an expansive ballroom requires a large, full dress. And vice versa," Lauren says. "Will you be able to navigate in the dress successfully? Will you be sitting or on your feet dancing? Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey is a great example of a dress that suited its venue. Carolyn Bessette's wisp of a dress in a quiet, rural ceremony was another great example. Whatever you do, choose what you like (and avoid too many opinions as you decide), work closely with an expert tailor and it will be perfect."
AND HER TOP THREE STYLING TIPS FOR BRIDES …
1. "With a long dress, no one is looking at your shoes, darling. Wear whatever you prefer. Short dress? Buy your dream shoes and let your girlfriends swoon."
2. "Your wedding look is not a math equation, less can be more."
3. "Whatever you choose, it's most important for you to feel beautiful and comfortable. And most importantly, look like, and be yourself."
