Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Just Moved to Los Angeles
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who will officially step down from their royal roles on March 31, have begun a new life in the United States.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept a low profile since announcing their departure from royal life, which explains why they cemented their next big move quietly: After a discrete journey, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now residents of Los Angeles. According to People, the couple left their private compound on Vancouver Island in Canada to spend more time with Meghan's tight-knit friends and family members in California—namely her mother Doria Ragland.
The outlet previously reported that Harry has treated this transition seriously as he and his wife step away from their traditional royal responsibilities. "Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family," an insider shared. "They will be spending time in California. He's not looking back."
In the midst of their move to Los Angeles, Meghan also nailed down her first non-royal role: She brokered a contract with Disney, People reports. She will do the voiceovers for an upcoming documentary, Elephants, slated to debut on Disney+ on April 3. This job makes sense for both Meghan and Harry, who share a mutual passion for wildlife—the duo most recently traveled to Botswana in 2017 to support the Elephants Without Borders organization.
Meghan's new job also has a tie to the early stages of the couple's relationship. Harry previously noted that their 2016 trip to Botswana cemented their whirlwind romance. "I managed to persuade her to come and join me in Botswana. We camped out with each other under the stars. She came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic," he said. "So then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure that we had a chance to know each other."
