Many fans have speculated that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding won't be entirely traditional, and it's no surprise why. Prince Harry is marrying an American, after all, and the celebration is already deviating from the British royal family's norms. The couple's wedding falls on the weekend, for example, while regal nuptials typically occur during the week. And now The Times is suggesting that another modern modification will occur, and it has to do with the pair's reception.

According to The Times, Markle plans to deliver a speech to her guest list of an expected 800 people. Their source says that she's prepping an "affectionate" toast to her spouse, her family, and her friends, and the outlet adds that the former actress may even crack a few jokes.

Typically, the father of the bride addresses the attendees at royal receptions. But Markle is preparing for that not to happen. Her dad, Thomas Markle, is a very private person, and he's laid low throughout the span of his daughter's relationship with Harry. While he did state that he'd be happy to walk Markle down the aisle, he may be too shy to give a reception speech. "The feeling is if Meghan's father doesn't speak for her, she wants to have the chance to thank her husband and everyone who has supported them. Harry thinks it's a great idea," the source explained.

Who exactly will be in the audience when Markle makes her speech? According to Elton John, nobody can say just yet. On the Grammys red carpet, the singer told Entertainment Tonight that "no one's been invited yet."
