Meghan Markle's royal duties have begun! On Friday, the former Suits actress and Prince Harry set out on their first official outing as a couple and spent the morning meeting adoring fans in Nottingham.

The duo began their mini-tour at the National Justice Museum, where they were met with celebratory cheers from the crowd. After greeting several civic leaders, the pair began their walk through the pedestrian-lined streets, waving, shaking hands, and pausing for small conversations. Doting fans pushed bouquet after bouquet into Markle's hands-the soon-to-be bride had to keep passing the flowers off to an aide!

Several lucky members of the Nottingham community got to meet Markle, and many of them commented on how poised and grounded she appeared to the public. According to People's sources, she greeted each guest stating, "Hi, I'm Meghan," and paused to chat when she could. "They are a lovely couple. They looked lovely together," one fan said. "This is something different," said another. "It was good with William and Kate-and this is the equivalent." One cheeky attendee even joked with the red-headed Prince, asking what it's like to be with someone as beautiful as Markle "as a ginger." Harry joked right back: "It's great isn't it? Unbelievable!"

The bride-to-be kept warm in an ankle-length navy coat, a tan midi skirt, and heeled boots. Prince Harry matched his fiancée in his own navy jacket. After walking the streets, the newly-engaged couple headed to the Nottingham Contemporary, an arts center hosting World AIDS Day. According to one of the benefactors at the event, the Prince was "looking forward to introducing Ms. Markle to a community that has become very special to him." Markle, he said, "cannot wait to meet many of the young people Prince Harry has told her so much about," and is just as eager to begin working in partnership with Harry across his many charitable projects.
