All eyes might have been on the bride at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's October nuptials, but there was another noteworthy fashion moment that slipped under the radar. The mother of the bride, Sarah Ferguson, stepped out in a green monochrome ensemble, complete with a jade hat and dress. Turns out, the color choice has a backstory, one that ties Princess Eugenie's nuptials to her parents'.

Ferguson told The Daily Mail that the inspiration began with the vintage Manolo Blahnik clutch she carried on the day of the royal wedding-it was the very same purse her own mother brought to her wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986. "Mum had carried the handbag at my wedding to Prince Andrew and the admission tickets were still in it," she explained. "They were green-which was why I wore green on the day."

Though Prince Andrew and Ferguson are no longer together, it's not surprising that the Duchess of York would choose to honor their marriage on the day of their daughter's. Their relationship has always been amicable, she revealed: "We're the happiest divorced couple in the world. We're divorced to each other, not from each other."

Ultimately, taking part in Princess Eugenie's wedding as a family was a highlight for the mother of the bride, who became intensely emotional during the ceremony. "I always went to weddings and thought: 'Why is the mother of the bride crying?'" she said. "But I completely understand why now. It's because it's so amazing to think your daughter is now grown up, leaving home and starting her own life."
