Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Donate $1 Million to Food Banks Amid the Coronavirus Outbreak
The married actors are combatting the pandemic hand in hand.
In the midst of the ongoing fight against the coronavirus, many celebrities are taking a stand to support those who could be impacted most by the pandemic. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are two of the latest A-listers to speak out and make a donation to help the cause. According to People, Ryan took to his Instagram and Twitter accounts to comment on the disease's severity—specifically for the elderly and disadvantaged communities—and share how he and his wife are banding together to assist those in need. "Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families," he wrote. "Blake and I are donating $1 million to be split between FEEDING AMERICA and FOOD BANKS CANADA."
While the couple is working together to help make a difference, the actor continued by asking his followers to also donate if they are able. "If you can give, these orgs need our help," he noted.
He also urged everyone to stay as healthy and happy as possible during these times and to check in with loved ones: "Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who's isolated and might need connection."
It's not surprising that Ryan and Blake are doing their part, hand in hand. According to the Deadpool star, Blake's compassion is one of the things he loves most about his wife—so much so, that it's made him a better person, he said. "She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy," Ryan told Humans of New York during an interview at the 2017 Met Gala. "She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she's made me a more empathetic person."
