Foundation is the base of your wedding-day look. It should look picture-perfect from the first kiss to the last dance, which means it needs to match your skin tone, camouflage blemishes, not cake up, and make your skin glow. Plus, it's important to use a foundation on your big day that features good-for-you ingredients that will protect you from outside toxins and elements that would otherwise damage your skin. So how do you go about finding the right foundation for you? Here, celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern shares some of her favorite products that will give your makeup look a solid foundation.

Tinted Moisturizer, BB Creams, CC Creams

I put these in one category, because in my professional experience I think they belong on the same island. They all offer more than one benefit. They are all sheer. They are perfect for the bride who wants a little something, but doesn't want to feel or look like she is wearing foundation.

One to try: Kiehl's Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream, SPF 50, $37

Why I love it: This BB cream offers a nice matte finish that smoothly evens the complexion while still allowing the natural elements of the skin shine through.

Liquid Foundation

This formula is usually best for younger skin. Many tend to be on the sheer side, so its coverage can be limited. It's also for brides with oily skin-it can tend to settle on the surface if your skin is on the dry side. Just remember to exfoliate and moisturize your skin well before using!

One to try:
Isaac Mizrahi Transforming Skin Tint, $42

Why I love it: It strikes a perfect balance between sheer coverage and gorgeous finish.

Whipped Foundation

Whipped foundations are my personal favorite. It's where the sheerness of a liquid and the coverage of a cream meet. It's super moisturizing and incredibly buildable while still keeping the skin looking dewy. Can anyone say perfect combo?

One to try: Chantecaille Future Skin, $76

Why I love it: This is far and away my long-standing favorite foundation. It's got hearty and healthy ingredients, wears gorgeously for hours, and is totally capable of going from sheer to opaque coverage-it's worth the splurge!

Cream Foundation

This is for brides that like coverage out of the gate. This formula will be more opaque and helps create a new skin. It can also be sheered out be using a damp sponge when applying. If you would rather not have to use a concealer, this foundation is a great choice for you.

One to try: Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation, $48

Why I love it: It's a long-wearing, full coverage foundation that's super easy to work with and is intensely pigmented. It's for photos or special events-a.k.a. your wedding!

Powder Foundation

Powders are best for oilier skin or the bride who prefers a matte finish versus having a dewy look. When applied with a sponge, powder foundations will offer a full face of coverage but can be worn more as a veil if dusted on with a brush.

One to try: All Day Luminous Powder Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 24, $48

Why I love it: It's sheerer than a lot of other powder foundations tend to be, yet still keeps the skin flawless. I also love the color range, too-there's a color for everyone.
