Everything We Know About the Guest List for the Royal Wedding
Expect to see a few famous faces in the crowd.
There are plenty of perks to life in the limelight and one of them is potential access to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding-especially since the bride-to-be, a former actress, is friendly with many of Hollywood's inner circle. One A-lister who scored that coveted royal wedding invitation? Quantico star and a longtime friend of the bride-to-be, Priyanka Chopra, who told Us Weekly that she'll be there when the couple ties the knot in May.
Chopra, who is thrilled to watch her pal exchange vows, opened up about her and Meghan's friendship and shared that the future royal is more than cut out for the job. "I've known Meghan for three years and I'm so happy the way the world has responded to her because as long as I've known her…she is a relatable young woman of the world today," she said. "She's that girl who thinks out of the box. She has always been an activist. She has always had a strong voice. She's an ambitious girl of today. I think the world needs strong role models like Meghan. I think, I hope, Meghan will end up being one of those people."
As for what the Baywatch star's wearing to the esteemed event? "I sort of may have an idea," she explained. "But no, I haven't picked one out yet." Whatever ensemble she chooses, it's likely to involve a hat-a royal wedding tradition.
While the actress was one of the first stars to confirm her attendance, plenty of other celebrities have been rumored to have received an invite. Sir Elton John, a longtime friend of the royal family, is expected to attend. The singer canceled two scheduled concerts that fell on the same weekend as Harry and Meghan's nuptials (he also might perform!). Also rumored to be on the list? Serena Williams and designer Misha Nonoo have been named as potential guests due to their closeness to the couple.
As for the latest in celebrity royal wedding guest rumors, a TMZ source recently revealed that the Spice Girls will be in attendace (Victoria Beckham will bring her husband, David Beckham, of course), but will not perform. Looks like Melanie B, who disclosed that all members of the girl group had received invitations in February, wasn't kidding!
Fashion stylist (and Markle's best friend) Jessica Mulroney is definitely attending. She was just spotted arriving in London with her husband and three children-the latter of which were just named as page boys and a bridesmaid! Markle's Suits co-stars are also attending, Us Weekly reports, but they're only invited to the ceremony and the following luncheon, not the evening reception. "The afternoon reception is for Meghan and Harry's old circle and the evening establishes their new circle," a source explained. Meanwhile, a People source said that George and Amal Clooney are attending both parts of the celebration. "Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while," the insider shared.
It'll be interesting to see how many celebrites do, in fact, attend-especially since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made cuts to their headcount. Though St. George's Chapel reaches capacity at about 800 people, the royal duo has allegedely reduced the ceremony's guest list to 600, reports an E! News source. The reason? An altered seating plan. The insider revealed that the twosome will either spread out the pews or arrange them diagonally to allow for a better view of the altar. The arrangement will also "look much better," said the source, from an aerial perspective, which will come into play when those high-up cameras begin filming the ceremony for the entire world to see. It's unlikely that any adults, A-listers included, will be affected by this last-minute change, though. It's anticipated that any children previously invited to the church will now be staying at home.
No matter who arrives for the celebration, we won't be able to turn to social media for more insight into the guest list on the big day. An Entertainment Tonight insider shared that just like at Prince William and Duchess Kate's wedding, attendees' phones will be taken as soon as they arrive at St. George's Chapel.
