Celebrities Who Got Inked in Honor of Their Significant Other
The only thing better than matching outfits? Matching tattoos.
There really are an infinite number of ways to declare your love for your significant other. Shout it from the rooftops, hold a boom box over your head playing "In Your Eyes," write letters to them every day for a year, build them a telescope, or simply, get a tattoo (or two!) like these celebrities did. The permanency of the act is definitely serious, but hey, so is true love! And if body art is on your romantic bucket list, you're certainly not alone. The rich and famous are known for getting inked in honor of their partners, and we've got the photos to prove it.
Want something that unites you two? Take a hint from the couples ahead who commissioned matching tattoos. Or else consider a solo venture—plenty of celebs have gotten body art for their S.O.s on their own. We've rounded up a heaping of ink inspiration from famous twosomes, whether you're hoping to wear your partner's name, a love quote, meaningful emblems, or something else entirely that represents your romance.
Take Victoria and David Beckham, the posh couple who have similar tattoos in honor of one another, shown here. Victoria put her husband's initials, "DB," on her wrist. Meanwhile, David has his wife's full name, "Victoria" on his hand. They're just one of many pairs—including Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson and Beyoncé and Jay Z—who wear symbols of their love story on their skin. Ariana Grande for Pete Davidson
Shortly after the pop star and Saturday Night Live comedian announced their engagement, Grande's nail artist posted this snapshot of her manicure, which shows "Pete" written on the singer's ring finger. Davidson's name was placed just above Grande's pear-shaped engagement ring. According to Buzzfeed
, this isn't the only ink the couple has in honor of each other. Davidson has bunny ears (just like the ones Grande wore on her Dangerous Woman album cover) behind his ear, plus her initials on one of his fingers.
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham
The power couple also has matching Hebrew scripture tattoos, with Victoria's running down her neck and spine and David's on his left arm. The tattoo reads "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine, who grazes among lilies."
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary with a trip to Paris and a trip to the tattoo parlor. The tattoo, inked on each of their left arms, reads "Tout mon coeur, tout ma vie" which means "My whole heart, my whole life" in French. They've had a rocky couple of years recently, but it looks like the couple is staying together and staying strong. McDermott also has an illustrated tattoo of Spelling's face on the back of his left arm. Talk about dedication to your woman!
Beyoncé and Jay Z
The famous power couple have matching "IVs" tattooed on their ring fingers, as the number four has a pretty significant meaning in their lives: Both Bey and Jay's birthdays fall on the fourth of the month, and they tied the knot on April 4th, 2008. Blue Ivy's middle name is even a reference to the roman numeral I-V. Although it's been rumored that Bey has since removed the tattoo, "IV" will live on forever in our hearts.
Shenae Grimes and Josh Beech
After getting engaged in 2013, the former 90210 star and her musician husband got each other's names tattooed behind their ears.
Michael Polish For Kate Bosworth
Our former cover girl's hubby has her signature tattooed on the inside of his left arm. Why specifically that spot? "When he crosses it over his chest it protects his heart," Bosworth explained on Instagram.
Benji Madden for Cameron Diaz
The Good Charlotte guitarist has his wife's name tattooed in script across his chest. While this may be a drastic move for the average person, Madden's body already boasts plenty of tats, including a geometric design inked on his scalp.
Kelly Ripa for Mark Consuelos
In 2010, Kelly Ripa got a tattoo of her husband's last name written in script on her wrist. The couple has been together since 1995 when they met on the set of All My Children playing an on-screen couple. They seem to be more in love than ever, and recently celebrated their 20-year wedding anniversary. #CutestCoupleEver
Kobe Bryant for Vanessa Bryant
The legendary basketball player inked a crown, his wife's name, two angel wings representing their daughters, and "Psalm 27" on his right bicep. After calling off their divorce in 2013, the couple now appears to be stronger than ever.
Ewan McGregor for Eve Mavrakis
We can't help but swoon over McGregor's heart and dagger tattoo on his upper right arm. He first got inked for his wife of 21 years, Eve, and eventually added on his daughters' names, Esther and Clara, and his adopted daughters, Jamyan and Anouk to the tattoo.
Keith Urban for Nicole Kidman
The country crooner also has an elaborate upper arm tattoo, solely dedicated to his wife of almost 10 years.
Miley Cyrus for Liam Hemsworth
You didn't think Miley would get a boring "Liam" tattoo, did you? To honor her Aussie fiancé, the "Wrecking Ball" singer tattooed an illustration of his favorite Australian snack, Vegemite, onto her arm. And of course, if anyone can pull off a condiment tattoo, it's Miley Cyrus.
Adam Levine for Behati Prinsloo
Adam Levine is no stranger to getting inked, but this specific tattoo is super romantic. The singer had "TRUE LOVE" tatted on his fingers to honor his relationship with wife and model Behati Prinsloo. On her part, Prinsloo loved the look, sharing this photo to Instagram with the caption "The Truest."
Lin-Manuel Miranda for Wife Vanessa
The Hamilton creator and star added a super-romantic bit of ink to his look: a ring finger tattoo featuring the letter "V," in honor of his wife, Vanessa. He took to Twitter to share the addition, writing, "In other news, I got a permanent parking spot for V over the weekend."
