Candice and Scott

rw_0810_candice_scott_couple.jpg

Candice and Scott attended the same boarding school but never really crossed paths until after graduating, when they sat next to each other at an alumni planning event. Friends first, the two eventually started dating, and the rest, as they say, is history. After three years, they wed on an early March day in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Inspired by the area's palm trees -- they used them as their color-palette inspiration and for some of their visual details -- Candice and Scott opted to blend comfort and class with some traditional Florida aesthetics.

The Invitation

Chris Eastland created the couple's wedding logo: a palm tree and a burgee flag sporting the couple's initials. It was first introduced on the invitation suite, which was designed and letterpressed by Dauphine Press.

The reception and response cards were also letterpressed in green, with blind hits of the flag and the palm tree, respectively.

The Fashions

rw_0810_candice_scott_couple.jpg

Candice paired Manolo Blahnik shoes and an Amsale veil with her Swiss dot Christos gown.

Scott's blazer was made by Martin Greenfield in Brooklyn, New York. The liner was the green of the wedding's palette, so he'd be reminded of that day each time he wore it again.

The Ceremony

A harpist played at the Episcopal ceremony, and the couple memorized and recited their vows, which they felt showed their acknowledgment of the serious nature of their lifelong commitment.

The Ride

Directly following the ceremony, Candice and Scott boarded her father's boat for the journey from the church to the reception venue. A "Just Married" banner (in the color of the day) was affixed to the stern.

Candice and Scott took some time to sit together on the bow before the festivities began -- one of the bride's favorite moments of the day.

The Timing

Candice and Scott timed their ceremony to end just in time for them to watch the sun set on the water as they journeyed down the Intracoastal Waterway.

Photographer Liz Banfield was on hand to capture the luminescence and precious moments between the couple.

The Flag

After the ceremony, the flag emblem, first flown on the boat, featured the couple's new shared last initial. A larger flag hung on the flagpole at the reception site, the Lauderdale Yacht Club.

The Signature Cocktail

Cocktails were served with napkins featuring the couple's logo. Dark and Stormy cocktails were the special drink, as the couple had served them years prior at a party and they were a huge hit. Plus, the drink was fitting for the Florida locale.

The Reception

Round tables in the reception tent boasted white-and-green floral centerpieces, half of them with multiple vases of singular types of flowers, the other half with a single, mixed arrangement. Ranunculus, tulips, anemones, hyacinths, and bells of Ireland helped keep the mood fresh and appropriate without going too tropical.

Lily grass tied an orchid and a place card to each napkin. Woven-reed chargers highlighted the relaxed Florida vibe.

When Candice was younger, her father gave her a shirt that read "Daddy's Little Co-Pilot." As a nod to that memory, the two danced to Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me."
