Kim Kardashian Reveals the Wedding Style Rules You Should Break
Kim Kardashian never plays it safe when it comes to fashion, so why would her wedding style be any different? From wearing white to testing the body-contouring dress limits, the reality star doesn't let the traditional wedding guest "rules" restrict her outfit choices. "Remember," she wrote on her site, KimKardashianWest.com, "It doesn't always pay to follow the rules!" Here, a list of the rules Mrs. West thinks you should throw out the window.
1. Weddings call for super-formal attire.
Kim is never afraid to show off those legs, so short or thigh-high slit dresses are one of her wedding style staples. "Most people think you should go SUPER formal for your wedding attire, and while most of the time it's appropriate, sometimes it's fun to bend the rules," she said. "This blush pink Lanvin dress [above] I wore to our friend Scott Sartiano's wedding was full-length in the back, but had a high slit in the front!" Basically, it's a party in the front, business in the back.
2. Guests' outfits should be simple.
Guests should never be too flashy in their outfit choices, right? Wrong, as proven by Kim in this glam outfit: "I wore a black fur shawl and these amazing Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings Kanye gave me for Christmas that year!" To keep the rest of her outfit "fairly simple," Kim paired her flashy accessories with a black column Azzedine Alaïa gown.
3. You can never wear white.
Another rule Kim loves to break is wearing white to a wedding. "I wore white to stylist Renelou Padora's wedding," she said. "Everyone did! She asked all her guests to wear white. I loved this unexpected wedding style twist!"
4. Leave the body-con dresses at home.
Kim's final and most important "rule" to break is the assumption that guests can't wear body-contouring dresses. While pregnant with Saint, she wore this Valentino gown to her friend Steve Stoute's wedding. "So gorgeous," she wrote on her site. "I loved it because it covered my arms but showed off my belly." We can't say we're surprised that the Queen of Tight Dresses would never let a thing like a wedding or her pregnancy stop her from showing off those famous curves!
