A Casual Beach Destination Wedding in Tuscany, Italy
Husband and Wife
Long before meeting as adults, this couple had grown up spending summers in the same coastal region of northern Tuscany. The bride, a voice-over actress in Milan, had come to New York for the month to pursue her love of jazz singing, and she had rented an apartment on the same Manhattan block as the famed Le Cirque restaurant, where Marco is a co-owner. The couple were introduced, but Sabrina moved back to Italy, where over the next year the two exchanged a few friendly text messages. In June 2007, while on separate vacations in Tuscany, they met up again -- this time for a proper first date. And on June 12, 2010, four years from the day they met, they were married.
The Bride's Arrival
The bride, riding in the sidecar, and her father, Dieter, cruise to the church on a 1938 BMW motorcycle.
The Groom's Father
The groom's father, Sirio, legendary restaurateur and co-owner (with Marco) of Le Cirque in New York City.
The Flower Girl
Bold and colorful bouquets of sunflowers and wheat lead the way to an adorable flower girl.
A Special Moment
The happy couple holds hands during their wedding ceremony.
As friends and family look on, Sabrina and Marco are wed during a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony within a sunlit stone church just outside of town.
The happy couple share a kiss as they're announced husband and wife.
A Beach Reception
The guests gather for dinner (and later, dancing). In keeping with the casual festivities, there was no assigned seating.
Under a tent on the beach, a white-jacketed waiter fills a plate with a variety of delicious Tuscan specialties prepared by chefs from the couple's favorite local restaurants.
A Wedding Feast
Along with Tuscan varietals and plenty of sparkling wine, the meal included a bounty of local specialties. Antipasti and salumi started it off, followed by salad, fish stew, and ravioli with ricotta, butter, and sage. A spit-roasted whole pig came next, and then, finally, the sweets: pastries and a heart-shaped strawberry wedding cake.
Attendees tuck into pasta and conversation; they ditched their shoes at a cabana before the meal.
The tables set on the beach were decorated simply with large, colorful sunflowers.
Entering the Party
Sabrina's veil, embellished with pearl paillettes, billows in the breeze as the couple make their way to the sunset party.
Sabrina takes a walk on the beach where their wedding reception was held.
