7 Things We're Loving Right Now
Senior Editor Brooke Porter Katz shares the hidden wedding gems that she loves right now.
Working at Martha Stewart Weddings means stumbling upon incredible finds every single day. So, each week, one of our editors will spotlight a few of their current obsessions—from a cool stationery to a fresh new baker to an under-the-radar wedding-dress designer to must-have accessories for your rehearsal dinner—to hopefully help inspire your own wedding day. This week, Senior Editor Brooke Porter Katz shares what she's loving now.
Chocolate Victoria Hot Chocolate
There's no better treat than a steaming cup of hot cocoa—except one that's a special blend of Mexican cacao beans, cane sugar, cinnamon, and almonds. Enter Chocolate Victoria. Sophia Brittan, the owner of New York's Victory Garden (known for its goat's milk soft serve) sourced the chocolate from Oaxaca and designed the colorful packaging herself. It makes a delicious favor or addition to a welcome bag ($11 per box). If you live in NYC and want to try it first, head to Victory Garden Monday through Wednesday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. for Hot Chocolate Happy Hour.
The Chicago-based illustrator Carly Martin is the talent behind Clementine Studio, and her soft watercolors designs make for some gorgeous custom wedding suites. She also paints individual portraits onto cards—a great way to personalize thank-you notes for your bridesmaids … you'll just need to supply photos of them (from $520 for save-the-dates; $550 for wedding invitations).
Bower Table Tiles
Cool registry item alert! Up your coaster game with these fun and colorful tiles by Bower, the brainchild of designers Danny Gianella and Tammer Hijaz. They're stylish enough to leave on your table even when you're not playing host ($18/set of six, available in four colors).
Buttercream Bake Shop
Last year, Tiffany MacIsaac, the former executive pastry chef of Neighborhood Restaurant Group, debuted her first-ever storefront, in Washington, D.C. Her specialty? Cakes that combine buttercream and fondant—but have the look of fondant and the price tag of buttercream. Among the flavors: chocolate chip cookie cake with Oreo buttercream and raw cookie dough filling and apple spice cake with salted caramel buttercream and pear compote (from $11/slice; will deliver outside of Washington, D.C. to places within driving distance, including New York, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina).
The modern Danish brand recently unveiled its first-ever kitchenware collection, with seven items made from oak and marble. Among our favorites: a sleek paper towel holder, broom-and-dustpan combo, and mortar and pestle (from $26).
Kolo Packing Cubes
I've been a big fan of Kolo's photo albums and scrapbooks for years, and was very excited to hear that the company was launching its first line soft goods, the Parker Softcubes. These cotton canvas bags come in four sizes, which can help organize toiletries, electronics, socks and undergarments—really anything you need to pack for your honeymoon (from $29 to $49 each).
Seafire Resort & Spa
Among the handful of exciting new Caribbean hotel projects opening this year is the Seafire Resort & Spa. Kimpton's first property outside of the U.S., it's scheduled to open in November right on Seven Mile Beach. (Stay tuned for more about other openings in a future post!) With more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, it's a boon for couples planning a destination wedding—not to mention honeymooners looking for a stylish beach getaway.
