Jessica Simpson Just Revealed How Husband Eric Johnson Proposed
A love song and rose petals were involved.
It's been three years since Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson tied the knot, but the singer just opened up about the moment that started it all. On Sunday, Simpson posted a throwback photo of her proposal on Instagram, recounting every detail of their intimate engagement.
"Got engaged to 'Since I've Been Loving You' by Led Zeppelin on 11/11 at 11:11 AM 7 years ago," she wrote. "Still loving this Man is the easiest part of my life." The photo-a black-and-white polaroid-shows a newly-engaged Simpson sitting on a bed of rose petals, flashing her engagement ring for the camera. She didn't specify a location, but Simpson's cozy outfit seems to indicate that the proposal took place at home. The "Take My Breath Away" singer also posted a second photo featuring a colorful spray of blooms in her library. The flowers might be a preserved remembrance of the star's July 2014 wedding day. They now sit alongside framed photos of the couple's two children, Maxwell and Ace.
Simpson and Johnson first crossed paths in February 2010. Johnson, who was in the middle of a two-year business program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, walked away from his studies to be close to Simpson's L.A. home. They were engaged by November and were married four years later in Montecito, California. The couple's wedding weekend was filled with BBQ, karaoke, golf, and outdoor games like corn hole, horseshoes, and croquet.
One year after the wedding, Jessica opened up about married life on the Today Show. "I really do feel like I'm in the best place of my life," she told Savannah Guthrie. "Marriage is unbelievable. I couldn't be more in love, and he's given me two of the best blessings I could possible imagine," she said of her two children.
