Your Wedding Horoscope for 2016

Whether you're engaged or soon-to-be engaged, according to the stars, 2016 is an exciting time. "In planning a wedding, astrology has a lot to offer future brides and grooms," says astrologer and author Constance Stellas. "If you want to find the exact right day to begin your wedded life, it's best to consult an astrologer," she says. In the meantime, however, the stars can guide you toward getting your romance or wedding off on the right foot.

"Do choose a month that offers an element that's harmonious with both of your birth signs," says Stellas. "If, as is usually the case, the couple has different elements in their birth signs, pick the one that most appeals to you," she says. "Intuition counts in astrology."

The earth signs are Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus. In 2016 fortuitous months are January, May, and September.

The air signs are Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra. February, June, and October are ideal. 

The water signs are Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. Their best months are March, July, and November.

The fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Great months for these signs are April, August, and December. 

Don't get married during a void moon, says Stellas. "No matter what date you choose, if the moon is void, the marriage usually doesn't last," she says.

Mercury in retrograde may cause some snafus for wedding planning, especially if you are a Capricorn or Cancer. If you've got a winter wedding date set, be prepared for some guest cancellations, changes of plans, and maybe some cold feet (literally and figuratively speaking). Do your best to get all the kinks worked out now, especially when it comes to vendors. But don't fret, just go with the flow and be open to a little disorganization; all you need is L.O.V.E.!

Valentine's Day is the ideal time to put a ring on it, not only because love is in the air, but the majority of the month is ripe with cosmic activity that will influence a more serious tone for love and relationships. A proposal now will cement love for the long term.

Put a heart around March 8th to commit to the one you love. A solar eclipse occurs on this day, which is extra-potent energy for fresh starts and new beginnings. In fact, getting hitched during a solar eclipse brings luck (especially if you are a Pisces). March 23rd is another lucky date—particularly for Libras. So now would be a good time to start searching for that all-important bling.

The theme this month is passion and spontaneity. Think: Red roses for your bouquet and flickering candle lights for your reception décor. April is the perfect time to make it official–on a whim. Spontaneity will add excitement early in the month; so if you're thinking of eloping or saying, "I do" while jumping out of a plane, go for it early this month. The impulse may wane by the end of April.

While May is always a perfect wedding month thanks to great weather and blooming flowers, you may find some hiccups in your planning, like confirming the caterer or getting ahold of the photographer (blame it on the universe!). Take a deep breathe—things always have a way of working themselves out.

June is a turning point in the year for wedding plans. If you've experienced some snafus in April or May, you will find things go a lot more smoothly in June. Just keep your details simple (ahem, Gemini); add-ons like an ice sculpture depicting your first date may not be commissionable on short notice.

Beach weddings will be a big theme this summer, and a destination wedding in the Outer Banks is just as perfect as a wedding in Bali. The good news is all activities will go as planned—and with a little adventure in the mix. The sky is the limit for your nuptials (especially for Leos), so go off the beaten path.

August 16th brings a lunar eclipse, so this would be a great day to tie the knot. Lunar eclipses bring a culmination to activities. So, in matters of the heart, it's time to graduate your relationship to the next level of commitment.

The harvest season during the autumn equinox is a wonderful way to celebrate a love union, and as an added bonus, two more eclipses bring potent energy. September 1st would be a good day to seal the deal, especially for Virgos, while September 16th is stellar, too. However, wedding details should be kept simple, with room for flexibility since you can expect some delays.

Big planet Jupiter will expand all happy unions, bringing true companionship and commitment to long-standing bonds. In fact, there will likely be an increase in the number of couples tying the knot everywhere.

Fate and love will be a big theme for November, since it's ripe for strong ties that stand the test of time. Deep love will be attainable this month, and intimate gatherings that celebrate loving unions will feel fated. Engagement party, anyone?

The winter solstice on December 21st is an optimal date to celebrate the turning point in your life together. A solstice celebrates the rebirth of life and new beginnings. This year it coincides with a full moon, which will decorate the occasion.
