5 Ideas for a Post-Proposal Getaway
Say "yes," then pack your bag.
More and more, couples are celebrating their plans to tie the knot by taking a romantic getaway together. While not quite a full-blown honeymoon, this mini-trip can be full of cozy outings and intimate dinners. So if you're newly engaged, grab your suitcase and begin thinking about the perfect getaway. Proposal planner Karen Lee of Luxe Proposals has mapped out a few of her favorite post-engagement picks.
If you live in a cold winter climate, a destination that's a little closer to the equator, where it's warmer, might sound appealing to you for a post-"I do" vacay. "Truly bask in each other's company by laying on a hot beach with tropical drinks in hand," Lee says. "The hot sand and blue waters are a true indicator of a relaxing getaway in the middle of winter." Lee suggests heading to St. Lucia or Costa Rica for snorkeling, helicopter rides, and lots of beach time.
Bed & Breakfast
B&Bs offer an intimacy than a large resort or hotel can't, no matter what the season. "Nothing is more romantic than a cozy weekend getaway" at a bed and breakfast, says Lee. There's something very appealing about walking on a deserted beach, just the two of you, then opening a bottle of champagne back in your room.
If you just can't find the time (or funds) to escape for a post-proposal getaway, a city staycation is for you. You (hopefully) don't have to go far for a little something fancy at an upscale hotel that's close to home. "Inform the staff of your celebration, so they can make romantic arrangements for you. Hello, rose petals and champagne!" Lee says.
ADVENTUROUS TREEHOUSE ESCAPE
For those who get their recharge from nature's wonders and are looking to completely disconnect to enjoy each other's company, consider a weekend in a gorgeous treehouse. "Enjoy the scenery in a comfortable 'glamping' experience overlooking the serene water views," Lee says.
EXOTIC ISLAND RETREAT
"Getting away to an island is the epitome of true bliss for a couple looking for privacy," says Lee. "Some of the romantic destinations in the world are Santorini, Greece, Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera, and the south of France."
