How to Get a Bridal Glow, Even for a Winter Wedding
The romance of winter is undeniable, but planning a wedding when the temperatures are low can make having a gorgeous glow seem challenging. Luckily, with the right prep and tools to layer getting your winter warmth is a cinch.
Three Months Out
Starting off with gorgeous skin is the premier step to nailing your beauty look during your winter wedding. At least three months before the wedding, start to hydrate your skin. Incorporate a moisturizing serum, like Kate Somerville's Quench Hydrating Facial Serum to your daily routine. I also recommend using a night cream that has extra enriching ingredients like Natura Bisse Oxygen Cream.
Finally, at least once a week apply an emollient moisture mask like Caudalie's Moisturizing Mask. You can also use this the night before your wedding to give your face a little extra love.
After cleaning and moisturizing your skin, apply an illuminating primer. This will minimize your need for foundation and will be able to keep the skin looking fresh. One of my favorite products that really gets the job done is NARS Hot Sand liquid illuminator.
After the illuminator, apply your foundation. The trick here is, only apply it where you need it. If the combination of your natural skin and the primer allows for areas to stay clear of foundation, the overall look will have a transparency that will add to the glow. Choose a formula that isn't matte. Let the skin have some dew. You can always control shine with powder.
Now is the fun part: applying the added bounce of radiance. Using a creamy highlighting pen, like Laura Mercier's Secret Brightener, add a slight sheen to the top of the cheek bones, down the bridge and tip of the nose, and the top of the Cupid's bow of the lips. Lastly, add a touch to the brow bones. To finish off the glow add a very small amount of delicately shimmering powder to the cheek bones and temples. This gives the light the perfect surface to bounce off of. TRUE Isaac Mizrahi Illuminating Shimmer in Rose Quartz is one of my all time faves.
Any creative beauty direction you take from here will be framed with a wonderful glowing complexion on your big day.
