Christian Siriano is known for his statement-making designs, and his Spring 2018 bridal collection is no exception. This season, Siriano wanted to create a collection of wedding dresses that spoke to every type of bride-whether you're a bride tying the knot in a dramatic church wedding or need something light and airy for a destination wedding. "I wanted to make sure that our bride had a lot different options," Siriano said. "It's kind of all over the place. I think that's the new world of bridal."
It's no surprise that Siriano's newest designs feel fresh and modern, as he had a ton of inspiration this year. The designer married Brad Walsh on July 9, 2016, at their home in Dabury, Connecticut. For his big day, he dressed bridesmaids in mismatched white gowns, all created by the designer groom. He also dressed brides Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli for their Palm Springs nuptials, creating a two-piece ball gown for the Orange Is the New Black actress and a jumpsuit with a beaded cape for the same show's writer. "Inspiration kind of comes from everywhere," Siriano says. "We take a lot from our customer, from our bride. I loved what we did for Samira and Lauren. I think what was great about that wedding is it was exactly what it was. It was a modern, cool, fashionable moment."
From our first look, it's clear that Siriano will be showing clean, simple designs as well as plenty of more romantic and embellished silhouettes. Everything from ruffles and feathers to delicate laces and glittering embroideries will be available on Siriano's incredible creations. "I like to go for the kind of unconventional sometimes, I think are some of my favorites," he says.
As for brides who are considering a custom dress, Siriano has some sage advice: He recommends trying on many different styles, then customizing something you like best from a collection, making a tweak to a skirt or top. That way, it's entirely your own, but you're better able to visualize what you'll be wearing on your wedding day.
