Princess Eugenie Is Engaged!
Another royal wedding is underway.
Don't worry, royal wedding fans: The fun won't end with Prince Harry's May 2018 nuptials to Meghan Markle. Buckingham Palace just announced that Princess Eugenie is engaged, and she plans to marry fiancé Jack Brooksbank before the end of the year, too.
"The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie," the statement reads. According to the royal family, Brooksbank popped the question "in Nicaragua earlier this month," and the couple are planning to exchange vows sometime this coming fall. Like her cousin Harry's celebration, Eugenie's wedding will also take place at St. George's Chapel.
Not long after the reveal, Buckingham Palace released the pair's engagement portraits. In them, royal watchers get a glimpse of the bride-to-be's unique ring. Entertainment Tonight shares that the stone is a pink sapphire that's surrounded by diamonds.
After the news broke, Eugenie's mother, Sarah Ferguson, made her approval of the relationship known. The Duchess of York shared multiple photos on Twitter of the happy pair, along with her comments about the engagement. "Total joy," she captioned one snapshot of Eugenie and Brooksbank. With another, she wrote, "They float with laughter and love." Prince Andrew, Eugenie's father and the Duke of York, retweeted Ferguson's posts.
According to Prince Andrew's Twitter, Brooksbank's parents are "over the moon" and "delighted" by their son's new relationship status. The royal also shared that he's "overjoyed." "Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and Eugenie and he have got to know each other over a number of years, and I'm really thrilled for them," he added.
