The Winner of the "Most Dramatic Season" of "The Bachelor" Is…
We all knew that having Nick Viall as The Bachelor would bring plenty of drama to the show's 21st season-and he did not disappoint. The season included a woman who had a past with Nick, nap queen Corinne Olympios stirring the pot, and the bachelor himself panicking that he wouldn't find love (this was his fourth time on a Bachelor television show, after all). But he did, of course, and proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi in last night's season finale. Spoiler alert: She said yes!
Throughout the episode, Nick seemed unsure about who he was going to choose, so he looked to his family for their input. In the finale of every season, the bachelor takes the final two contestants to meet his parents, but the Vialls liked both Raven and Vanessa. Although the visit didn't help identify a clear front-runner, we did learn one important thing about Nick: He's attracted to strong women, just like Vanessa. While Nick and Raven had fun ice skating on their last one-on-one date, he and Vanessa had serious discussions about their future. The two disscussed where they'd live and if Nick is proposing for the right reasons.
At the end of the two-hour episode, Nick turned down Raven and proposed to Vanessa. "I will never forget the first moment I saw you," he told her before popping the question. "I was very excited you got out of that limo, but I'll never forget the first moment I started falling in love with you. It was actually the second rose ceremony. Just being next to you, I felt something very special. And every moment since then, I've been falling more and more in love with you. There have been plenty of times where I've tried to fight it, and I don't want to fight it anymore. I do love you, I'm in love with you, and I'm so glad I don't have to try to not say it. So much about me being here has to do with the past, but when I look at you, all I see is my future." Guys, if you ever need to know what to say when proposing, this is it.
Just like JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers, Nick and Vanessa played "The Newly Engaged Game" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! following their public proposal. For every question they answered correctly, Kimmel gave them a household item, like a panini maker and a turkey baster. But the greatest prize was Bachelor and Bachelorette china dinner plates!
While we're excited for these two to start planning their big day, they probably won't be walking down the aisle anytime sometime soon. The couple still needs to figure out where they'll live since Vanessa calls Canada home and Nick is set to appear on season 24 of Dancing With the Stars. But no matter where she's living, we know one thing for sure: Vanessa will be cheering on her new fiancé!
