Steve Carell Shared His Most Vivid Memory from His "Powerful" Wedding to Wife Nancy

Steve and Nancy Carell met over two decades ago when he served as her teacher at Chicago's Second City improv theater. Although they married in 1995 (their 23 years of marriage means that their relationship is one of the longest in Hollywood), the actor still remembers their wedding day like it was yesterday. At the premiere of his new movie, Welcome to Marwen, Steve told Us Weekly what stands out most about the day he said "I do."

According to the actor, the couple was faced with a fairly common big-day dilemma: The weather was less than ideal. "We were back east in Massachusetts, and it was over 100 degrees and humid, and the church didn't have air conditioning and I was sweating bullets. I'll never forget it," he told the outlet.

But Steve says he didn't even notice the balmy temperatures once he saw his future wife walking down the aisle. "I immediately stopped sweating," he said. "I was full of this sense of calm because I knew that person was going to be my partner and have my back and I'd have hers. It was literally feeling empowered. It was feeling like I was more powerful because she was a part of my life."

In 2013, the actor told The Guardian that he knew Nancy was the one almost immediately after meeting her. "She's beautiful, intelligent and really funny," he said. "She kind of checked all the boxes in my head, but I thought she hated me because she was very quiet around me. I thought she for sure knew that I was full of it, and I later found out that she was just as nervous as I was and trying to act cool."
