Yaniv Persy's first-ever wedding dress collection in the United States, which he premiered during Bridal Fashion Week, made a splash. And it makes sense: The designer was inspired by the sea this season, filling his Fall 2017 collection with pearls, shell embroideries, and cascading ruffles reminiscent of waves. "When I design, I escape to a world full of fantasy, where I design dreams," Persy says. That's not to say he doesn't find inspiration in the waking world as well: Born in Israel, raised in South America, and based in Paris, Persy pulls from all places when designing his dresses—as well as his experiences working with John Galliano, Donna Karen, and the house of Roberto Cavalli, and his stint as the creative director for Apostrophe. He finds the streets particularly informing, paying special attention to what women like to wear. Comfort is key, so you won't find any stiff fabrics or restrictive corseting in his collection. Rather, brides will feel free and natural in wedding dresses that move with them.
