There are certain experience that make a 4 a.m. wake-up call worth it—and a hot-air balloon ride in Cappadocia, Turkey is one. "We were among the first to lift into the air, and as we drifted west we watched another 100 balloons come up between us and the sunrise," says a newlywed couple who quit their jobs to travel around the world pre-wedding.

The Himalayas, India
During their year long travel, the couple stopped in India for a month, where they spent 10 days touring the Himalayas on a customized itinerary through Incredible Spiti. "Our driver was phenomenal," said the groom-to-be. You're going along gravel roads with sheer cliffs next to you, so looking out the window is nerve-racking."

Fun fact: the Balinese people have been using the same irrigation technique on their famed rice terraces since the eighth century. According to history, the irrigation system was passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya and has been used by farmers ever since. While in Palm Springs, this couple stayed at the gorgeous Korakia Pensione, surrounded by palm trees and perfect weather. "It felt like a retreat in the middle of nowhere," said the bride. Among the amenities: a fire pit next to the pool, where they sat together as newlyweds, "letting it all sink in," she said.

These newlyweds circumnavigated the the entire island in the sky tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. "It was amazing—we never would have seen any of that on foot or by car," said the bride.
