Krystal and Daniel

For Krystal Reno and Dan Selleck Jr., love happened at second sight. They first met as high schoolers in suburban Los Angeles, where Krystal, now a hairstylist and salon owner, was a grade ahead of Dan and barely noticed him. Dan, on the other hand, found any excuse to talk to her—to no avail. "She and her friends were the older, 'untouchable' hotties," says Dan. Fourteen years later, in 2012, the former classmates were reacquainted when Dan, who owns a credit card processing company, stopped by Krystal's salon in Agoura Hills for a haircut. "I was blown away," says Krystal. "I remembered a little string bean of a kid, and now he was this handsome, grown-up man." After that, Dan returned every four weeks for a cut until, eventually, their friendship turned romantic. Less than two years later, he proposed.

The couple are avid travelers (they got engaged while on a bicycle tour of Tuscany), so they set their sights on a destination wedding on January 17, 2015. After a trip to Sayulita, the Pacific Coast tropical town made the cut. "Sayulita is so us," says Krystal. "It's small and casual, and just so charming." They chose the Villa Amor hotel for its staggering views of the Sayulita Bay coastline. It was there, in the hotel's lush garden, that they wed before 90 of their nearest and dearest. Dan's father, who officiated, read letters the couple had written to each other about their relationship. "It couldn't have been more perfect or personal," says the bride.

For the alfresco fiesta that followed, guests moved to the courtyard of an eight-room villa overlooking the ocean. Under twinkling bistro lights, they dined on tortilla soup, cactus salad, chicken mole, fish veracruz, and, for dessert, churros and Mexican rice pudding. Next came dancing, including an impromptu hora, though neither Krystal nor Dan is Jewish. "We thought it would be fun," says the groom of being hoisted, along with his bride, atop friends' shoulders. "We were right!" Fueling the festivities: tequila, and lots of it. "I'd say the party was a total rager," says Dan. Which is about as fitting a finale as one could envision for a spirited couple 17 years in the making.

Invitations featured a painting of the main street in Sayulita along with the couple's initials and the wedding date. Also in the stationery suite, made by Type and Title, was a hand-drawn map of the town with a few of the bride and groom's favorite places marked for guests to check out.

Dan handpicked a different vintage bolo tie for each of his groomsmen; this one showcased a traditional Day of the Dead skull. "All the guys were so stoked about the bolo ties and have worn them to other weddings since," says Dan.
