Ellen DeGeneres Completely Forgot Katy Perry Used to Be Married
You have to see the host's reaction.
Katy Perry is one busy woman. Earlier this month, the "Teenage Dream" singer broke the news early in the morning that she's dropping a new album just in time for the summer. (This one's called Witness and its June 9 debut will be here before we know it.) She's also kicking off her nation-wide tour in September, and it was just announced yesterday that the singer will be joining American Idol as a judge when the show premieres on its new ABC network. Does the pop singer sound busy, or what? But her hectic schedule didn't stop her from making a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday-and her appearance was hilarious.
During the episode, Ellen said that the singer was going to play a game of "Will You Perry Me?" But before they started, Perry jokingly complained asking, "Do I have to get married...again?" While the crowd laughed, Ellen looked at her, confused, and replied saying, "You were not married!" Perry jogged the host's memory and mentioned, "I was, when I was 25… It's been a long time, honey. No wrinkles, no lines."
But Ellen needed more details to recall the singer's ex-husband. When she asked who she had once been married to, Perry whispered back with, "His name is Russell Brand." She even reminded Ellen that they spoke about it years ago when it happened. "Remember, you gave me wedding gifts on this show!" The host finally remembered the relationship, and after a few more laughs, finally went on with the game.
We can't blame Ellen for not being able to recall Perry's old marriage right away. After all, it happened almost seven years ago. Perry and Brand tied the knot in October 2010 in a private wedding ceremony in India, but after almost two years, the couple called split. Regardless, life is great for the busy singer, and she has a lot of exciting things to look forward to in the coming months-even though she doesn't have a ring on her finger.
