The Adorable Reason Orlando Bloom Is "Super Proud" of Katy Perry
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry share more than their relationship: They also both have a passion for The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), for which they are both ambassadors.
At UNICEF's 70th Anniversary Event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on Monday, Bloom praised Perry's involvement with the nonprofit. "She's amazing, you know, I'm super proud of the work that she does," the actor told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. "She's a voice that speaks to so many, and it's remarkable to see her champion this cause, [and] it's amazing that we happen to do this together."
The admiration is mutual. While being honored at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball last month, Perry gushed about Bloom, too, telling ET, "He's been a UNICEF ambassador for over 10 years and I've only been [for] a few years, so he's kind of shown me some of the ropes. Everyone is a teacher in a relationship, that's how I see it now, [and] we've taught each other a lot."
At last night's Anniversary Party, Bloom also opened up about how fatherhood has increased his "level of compassion". "Being a father, you know, you kind of have a new sense of responsibility," he said of his 6-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
We love that Perry and Bloom seem to share this compassion and an interest in giving back. The two have been linked since they hit it off at the January 2016 Golden Globe Awards. With the holidays (and their one-year anniversary) approaching, we can't help but wonder if an engagement is on the horizon. Or perhaps they've already taken it to the next level: In November, the singer was spotted on a date with Bloom wearing a large diamond ring, leading some to believe the couple is secretly engaged.
