Serena Williams Writes a Sweet Message to Her Baby
Serena Williams is officially having the best year ever: She started 2017 as a newly-engaged woman, then won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, and just announced she's expecting her first child with fiancé Alexis Ohanian last week. Today, the tennis pro shared an adorable photo with her bump, and a sweet message to her baby.
"My Dearest Baby," Williams wrote on Instagram. "You gave me the strength I didn't know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can't wait to meet you. I can't wait for you to join the players box next year. But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you… once again. Today on @alexisohanian bday. From the world's oldest number one to the world's youngest number one. –Your Mommy"
The comment is in reference to Williams becoming #1 again on the Women's Tennis Association, which was just announced today, making Ohanian's birthday extra special for this adorable little family. Friends of the mother-to-be, including tennis pros Andy Roddick and Chris Evert, told the New York Times that they're incredibly excited for Williams and her fiancé.
"I'm elated for her; I've seen her with our son, and she will be a great mother," Roddick, who's known Williams since childhood, said. Evert echoed those same statements. "Getting married and having a child is a special journey," he said. "She, to me, is more than ready for this lifestyle change. It's been 20 years on tour."
The couple has been enjoying a beach getaway the past few days, allowing them to celebrate the news of their first child and Ohanian's birthday in private. It sounds like these two are soaking up every ounce of relaxation they can before their little one arrives this fall!
