A Shabby-Chic Party for Blogger and Bride-to-Be Geri Hirsch
Macarons, homemade finger sandwiches, and bubbly were just some of the treats at this backyard bridal shower.
When Erin Falconer got down to planning a bridal shower for her bestie, LEAF.tv cofounder, and the blogger behind because im addicted, she looked no further than the backyard of her home in Venice, California. "It was cool because that's where we shoot most of our LEAF videos, so it felt like the right venue," explains Erin, a webtrepreneur in her own right. She teamed up with Geri's mom to pull off a British High Tea for 20 on a sunny Saturday afternoon that began with a Champagne and strawberry welcome and followed with a seated tea party. The no-fuss, shabby-chic fête felt fit for a beach, rather than a parlor, and the result brought the bride-to-be to tears as soon as she arrived. Needless to say, she was immediately #addicted.
Erin looked to the quintessential wedding color (white, of course!) to set the table and cozied up bench seating with faux fur throws. Layering pressed napkins onto alternating clear and everyday dinner plates added interest to the tablescape. An eclectic mix of vintage teacups and saucers and Depression glassware personalized place settings, while a lace runner prettified the scene.
"Down to the wire, and after a hard workout, I ran over to Intermix, which was closing in 45 minutes," explains Geri of her search for a shower ensemble. "Despite being a bit of a sweaty disaster, they were so accommodating and had a wonderful white selection that I hadn't found elsewhere."
The fashionista settled on an Alexis lace dress from Intermix and a pair of Sergio Rossi heels. "I tossed on my white Phillip Lim silk blazer just before walking out the door and was so happy with what I ended up wearing," she says. "I felt so bridal and special, which is exactly what I wanted."

Like Mother, Like Daughter
"My mom and Erin put so much love and energy into making something that they knew I would appreciate," says Geri, pictured here with both. "Their effort, and having the women I love all in one room, meant the world to me."
Not Your Average Bar
Erin reworked a patio table into a full-service tea station by covering it in pale pink cloth and burlap. A Kelly green watering can provided cheery cohesion to the palette inspired by the antique teapots, and the stainless-steel hot water urn gave the grouping a timeless feel.
Hostesses made use of the existing décor for the backyard bash. Here, a white rose and gift tag are tied together with hot pink ribbon to the fence's iron doorknob, marking the exit.
A Time Worth Toasting
The future bride is no stranger to sparkling cocktails (blackberry, rosewater, and bitter-spiked blends are among her recipe repertoire), but for the afternoon affair, guest imbibed on Champagne, straight up, from embellished flutes.
Invitees noshed on a variety of Erin's homemade tea sandwiches: cream cheese, cucumber, and mint; goat cheese, radish, and poppy seed; crème fraîche and smoked salmon; and sharp cheddar and Branston pickle.
Call Me Cupcake
Partygoers nibbled on custom vanilla treats dolloped with nonpareil-packed buttercream bearing the party logo.
The rose, raspberry, and coconut French cookies from Bottega Louie provided one more option for satisfying sugar cravings.
Girly floral tea towels kept spills in check while guests socialized.
The Future Mrs. and Mr.
The groom, Darin Friedman, a partner at talent agency Management 360, surprised his future wife with flowers, honoring the age-old custom of making an unexpected entrance. In preparation of his crashing the party, he answered questions posed by the hostesses about special moments in his and Geri's relationship (i.e. What was the first song you heard together?). Once on the scene, the woman of the hour participated in the same activity. "My favorite part was when everyone gave me the same quiz that they gave Darin," Geri says. "Our answers were spot on. We are so on the same page!"
Do Us a Favor
Guests left with bubbly from the Francis Ford Coppola Winery Sophia Collection, specifically two sizes of the Blanc de Blancs blend.
Geri gifted her party throwers Simone LeBlanc Staycation Spa boxes, which include a Tatine moonlight mile candle, Herbivore Botanicals Dead Sea salts, a pink clay cleansing bar soap, and a Fog Linen Work wash cloth, among other at-home luxuries.
